A Dirty Game
By: Prem Prasad Sigdel
I used to think that
politics was the best game that was necessary for the country. The word meaning
of politics in Nepali is Rajniti. It
means it is the supreme policy that has guided all other systems in the
country. The etymological meaning is that Raj+niti.
Raj means royal position and niti
means policy. So the royal policy is the supreme policy which guides other all
policies, rules, regulations and so on.
Moreover it suggests that
only an eminent person would reach to the position so that s/he could guide the
nation to right path. It has determined the future of the nation judging the
past so that we can achieve the goal of development. Besides that the leaders
would guide the political parties as well as the nation and they have the
capacity or power to guide other people so that the people would believe them or
they would do best for their welfare.
Nowadays I realize that
politics is really a dirty game. The players are not the leaders they are the
gangsters who have tried to capture national means and resources with all sorts
of efforts. They have made others fool and try to get the power for themselves,
their family and relatives. When we see the nature of Nepalese politics, we can
see all these adjectives and nothing is lack in it.
The leaders by
etymological meaning are such persons who can lead the mass to achieve certain
goal. S/he would have power or capacity to convince others; and they have the
power of coordination. They have certain aim or goal; to achieve the goal they
would create mass and mobilize common people to meet the goal. They have also
the capacity to manage resources so that there won’t be any stoppage in the
work. Only the prominent person can be the leader who has the motive of
sacrifice, devotion, dignity and power.
In our context the
leaders have tried to get the power and nothing others. It’s better to call
them as gangsters or looters who have power or strength and they could defeat
others physically or with money. Truly, they are brokers and they would
influence other with power and pelf. So they always seek to capture the regime
which is their all time goal.
They don’t think about
the development or they haven’t known the word development. They have seen the word in any dictionary and
they may have heard it from the mouth of any representative of INGOs. They have
made fun of the word development with which they have got chance of loot on the
state treasury for their satisfaction. They don’t have any morality; nor do
they know the work ethics rather they have been playing game on people’s
destiny. So their nature is crystal clear that they don’t have shame of the
people.
There is no chance of
accountability or responsibility. They have taken these words as their pocket
money. If the spend money, they can buy the words accountability and
responsibility. They think that accountability is related to accountancy which
deals with the calculation of money only. Moreover, responsibility is the word
for them that they would get from people not the people from them. So the
concept they have understood is just opposite as they have done everything
oppositely.
Nowadays I evaluate
that politics is really a dirty game. It is played by the brokers who have no
possibility of other jobs. They have the skill of guffaw and they have known to
play tricks and cheating on common citizen. So my evaluation of politics is too…
much dirty which can’t be cleaned with less effort.
