Teacher’s
Day

There was Guru Purnina or Teacher’s Day yesterday on 4th
of Shrawan 2073BS (19th July 2016). We worship teacher like god
because teacher would provide knowledge to us. Knowledge is the light of life
that that is possible only from Guru.
So Guru and knowledge are integral
factor according to Hindu belief. So the respect to Guru is the respect of knowledge which brings positive change in
our life. Guru has guided children into
their future implanting the seeds of knowledge. Hence they would be able to uncover
the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge.
We can’t get knowledge without
the help of guru so s/he is the prime element of education. Guru helps to open the eyes of an
innocent child so that s/he could be guided into the future life of them. If there
is no Guru, we will remain ignorant
throughout our life. In this way, Guru
has played important role in the life of innocent child or disciple. So the
importance of Guru has been growing
day by day.
The day of Guru Purnima is not limited only with worshipping;
it has broader meaning that has connection with knowledge or education. When we
worship Guru we have worshipped our
knowledge which is only the motto of our life. Thus, Guru is one of the symbols of the knowledge rather than the
knowledge itself. In this way, Guru helps to pave the way from
ignorance to knowledge. Or s/he is the initiator of the knowledge of students.
So students should have known that they have worshipped their own knowledge not
any person.
We should worship the
knowledge because it is the best thing in our life. We have been spent our life
knowing various things which is unstoppable. The things what we want to get
with all sorts of effort should be praised and worshipped. If we can’t worship
the thing what we have got that is useless in our life. Hence, worshipping knowledge
means worshipping the dignity of ours which helps to drive us ahead in our
life.
Mainly the students
have celebrated Guru Purnima by
putting tika to their Guru showing hearty respect. They can worship
guru with the things what they have. It is believed that we should make our Guru happy on this day so that the Guru would
help us throughout the year. Or he would be inspired to teach us the positive
things in our life. The students would feed their teacher with delicious food
and they have even provided presents to their Guru.
We all are students and
we have to worship our Guru. Nowadays,
we should think that there is no such person who is regarded as Guru as the mythological definition. According
to mythological definition, Guru is the person who has known everything. It was
good at that time because Guru could
know some books and s/he could teach their students getting mastery over that. Guru can be taken as different person
these days due to the broader aspect of education. Only one person can’t know all
subjects so the traditional definition can’t address it; rather it is area
specific.
These days knowledge is
divided into various fields and experts are also divided accordingly. So we
should understand it in relative sense that Guru
is such person who is expert in his/her subject matter. Along with deconstruction,
the idea of Guru has been changed. These
days we can get experts area wise rather than the traditional concept of
Mr-Know-All.
Finally I can say that Guru Purnima is the remarkable day for
the persons who are the devotees of knowledge. The devotion what we have got
should be transferred into our life so that we can go ahead. Celebrating Guru Purnima doesn’t mean worshipping a
particular person rather it is the worshipping of our own knowledge.
