Teacher in Classroom
By: Prem Prasad Sigdel
Teacher is the prime factor in classroom teaching along with students. The presence of teacher has determined the quality of education and the outcome of the investment of the students or parents. The presence of teacher should be meaningful in the classroom to make students competent, diligent, sincere, active and so on.
We often talk about the quality in education though it is confusing yet debatable subject matter. The presence of teacher has affected the situation of the classroom. The teacher has the capacity or the right to make classroom interesting or fruitful. Moreover it is also the duty of teacher to produce maximum output in the class as per the investment. So the teacher should be active, sincere and laborious. Then it determines the quality of teaching.
I always spend time in classroom while teaching. When I am in class I try to understand the situation of the students. I always make students aware about the course that they have been reading. I have given time to the weak one who can’t read and write well.
In course of reading I want to ensure that all the students should have homework first. I assured them already that they should have done the homework which may be right or wrong. I checked their homework thoroughly. Some of the students who haven’t completed would get punishment so that the students could be aware about the importance of homework.
Then I proceed for homework checking. All the students should have taken part while checking. At that time I looked after all the students whether they have paid attention for checking or not. If I find something difficult or the students don’t have expertise, I want to clear them. Hence they are always aware about the importance of checking.
All the students should read themselves so that they would be sure that their home is checked well. If the problem has only one answer, they would check it when one of them has shared answer in the classroom. If any of the questions has varied answer, I encourage them to share that in the class. If the student can’t solve it I will assist them so that they would be able to write the answer of all the questions.

Accordingly I have given them the chance by staying in the classroom. If I have got some leisure time, I encourage them to share their different experiences one by one. That would also help students for participation and entertainment and they would be encouraged to answer compulsorily. Thus the role of teacher in the classroom would be a facilitator rather than dictator.
