Teaching
Profession in Nepal

The condition of
teacher in Nepal is too poor or this job is ranked towards the last of all
other professions. People don’t take it as one of the respectable jobs as it
has less earning; rather they would regard this job as one of the ways of
engaging. So it is hated by all the people as teachers don’t get extra benefit
from this job.
People exchange job
along with money rather than the expertise or the service which they should
have in their life. The social context is odd in this matter that it would
praise the persons who have earned money rather than the service they have given
to the society. In teaching profession, teachers don’t have other sources of
earning which the civil servants have got begging from the service taker. So
teaching job is one of the hated jobs in Nepal.
Other jobs have
opportunity to earn money from bribery instead of the teachers. The competency
of this job is compared with other jobs and their earning. The government has
also not given much priority in education. Other job holders have earned more
money and they have luxurious life in comparison to the teachers so the society
evaluates them as the high rank personnel in the society. Thus the attraction
towards teaching has been decreasing. On the other hand, if any person who
haven’t got other job would adopt teaching profession as the stepping stone.
On the other hand,
people don’t like to spend time for the children as it is one of the tedious jobs.
People don’t feel good to spend time with children because they aren’t the
source of money like in other government jobs. The teacher and society haven’t
given value to the children so the teachers would also feel burden to deal with
children. If we can’t make them realize to its importance, the profession would
be hated till long.
Teachers earn less in
comparison to other job holders in the society. Their needs and wants are also
the same like others however the earning is less. The talented person would be
the teacher because he would get the opportunity in teaching. Those who haven’t
got the chance in teaching at the prime phase of their job-age would choose civil
servant forcefully having no competency in teaching or in other field. Instead
their earnings have exceeded the teacher’s earning so the teachers would have neglected
in the society. There is no such government mechanism to check for bribery; rather
the government would blame teachers time and again of not performing well in
providing quality.
The government white
colour beggars have earned much more taking money from the service taker so the
teaching job is in the last of choice. There is high chance from the so-called
civil servants to take money from common people. I have visited many offices
and paid for them also. If I didn’t pay for them, they would suspend my work;
neither would I have to quarrel to have my work done. Last time I went to
Syangja District Court and I didn’t give any money for the personnel. I went
with my solicitor and he told me that the clerk wanted some money from me while
returning. I was much surprised with his expression that they would expect
meager money from the service-taker though they have been paid by the
government. The best thing is that I haven’t given any money to that man.
